Dr. French Dedication

Dr. Lyle A. French received is B.S., M.D., Ph.D., and neurosurgery residency training from the University of Minnesota. He served as Head of the Department of Neurosurgery from 1960 to 1970 and as Vice President for Health Sciences Affairs at the University of Minnesota from 1970 to 1982.
Dr. French was involved and represented the University of Minnesota in many reputable, national neurosurgical organizations:
President of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (1973-1974)
President of the American Academy of Neurological Surgery (1972-1973)
President of the Minnesota Academy of Medicine (1960-1961)
President of the Neurosurgical Society of America (1957-1958)
Vice President of the American Society for Stereotactic Surgery (1963)
Board of Editors for the Journal of Neurosurgery
Board of Editors for the Journal of Modern Medicine
During his dedicated career at the University of Minnesota, Dr. French received many awards and honors:
Harvey Cushing Medal - American Association of Neurological Surgeons
Distinguished Service Award - Society of Neurological Surgeons
Outstanding Physician Award - Minnesota Academy of Family Practice
Neurosurgeon Award - American Academy of Neurological Surgery
Neurosurgical Society of America Service Award - Neurosurgical Society of America
Dr. Lyle A. French was awarded the Neurosurgical Society of America Service Award at the Neurosurgical Society of America Annual Meeting in June of 2004.
